Scottish Folds
Are simply the best cats...

Well, at least according to my husband (who definitely is NOT a "cat person"). He likes them because "they're real cats" he says, "they just have a distinct personality, even more playful and intensely inquisitive than most other cats." Scottish Folds are uncommonly 'personable' - they really want to relate to you once they get to know you and you them. They even seem to have a sense of humor. They can really crack you up just watching them go about their everyday routines - not just as kittens, but even into old age they maintain their curiosity and sense of adventure. About half of Scottish Folds have folded ears, and half have ears not folded - usually referred to as 'straight-eared Folds'. (Is that an oxymoron? I'm not sure, but the term seems self-contradictory, doesn't it?) Whether they have straight or folded ears, they all have in common that humorous but dignified personality and style. Because they are bred with the British and American Shorthairs, they are known for their extraordinarily soft and dense fur coats, in several distinctive colors and markings.

Scottish Folds have a fascination with water, as you can see when a faucet is turned on for Snook and Charm.  They come running when they hear the shower go on or the toilet flush.  They prefer to scoop water out of a glass and LOOOOVE the new fangled cat fountains.

Personality

Scottish Folds are intelligent, sweet-tempered, soft-spoken, and easily adaptable to new people and situations. They are very loyal and tend to bond with one person in the household. While they will usually allow others to cuddle and pet them, their primary attachment becomes quickly clear as they single out their chosen humans. They thrive on attention, but it must be on their own terms.

Despite their devotion, they are not clingy, demanding cats and usually prefer to be near you rather than on your lap. They enjoy a good game of fetch now and then as well, and keep their playful side well into adulthood.
